Roop is torn between pleasing his  hard-working immigrant parents and living the less traditional life of a  typical Canadian college student.

Already avoiding a marriage  his mother is trying to arrange for him to a perfectly lovely Indian  girl named Neetu, Roop learns that an old friend of his father's has  arrived in the country with his daughter, who recently enrolled at his  school.

Roop is intrigued. If he must agree to an arranged  marriage to keep the peace, might the newcomer be a better match for him  than his mother's initial choice, whom he barely knows? How can he meet  and get to know her without Neetu's family finding out? Perhaps a new  friend he meets on campus, Preet, can help him untangle his complicated  personal life.

Find out what happens when the different cultures  and generations collide. Written as an entertaining and insightful stage  play about a family of South Asian immigrants, Crossings takes you on a  heartfelt journey through the tenuous world of cultural heritage and  brings the nuances of each societal group to life in a uniquely personal  way.

Reviews:

This  play magically captures the emotions and stresses of different  generations of immigrant families adapting to their new country while  retaining ties to their old. The characters all ring true, and the  nuances of the dialogue hint at questions of "what might have been"  against the problem of "what happens now." An easy to read, hard to put  down volume. These characters stay will you, even when you close the  cover.  Sue Perry

A delightfully engaging and warm hearted  depiction of a modern day Panjabi Indian family! Wonderfully written in  the format of a play, the story brings to life a rich ensemble of  characters with a story that touches the heart and resonates truthfully  and powerfully. An added touch of mystery at the end leaves the reader  wanting more…perhaps one day to see it come to life on stage! zinnia77
